Here is my favourite playlist at the moment! All available on iTunes, viagra buy except for Selah which is free from Misty Edwards homepage.

Allan McKinlay  Intimacy – When God Speaks
Ryan Gilpin     The Place of Springs – Into The River (Devotional Rescue Series)
Eric Terlizzi    Your Heart – In The Stillness
Marcus Meier    One Spirit – You Take My Breath Away
Rivertribe        Largo – Radiate
Ryan Gilpin    White As Snow  – Into The River
Garrett Viggers  More Love More Power – Thin Places
Ruth Fazal        Longing – Deep Unto Deep
Misty Edwards  Selah – Limited Edition
I have tried to include a variety of instruments, styles, and moods. I use these tracks on the Source course and events, and watch as God moves throught them, bringing healing and transformation.

Although I have been practicing the art of soaking for a few years, I have been really exploring music for this type of meditation lately. Soaking is a wonderful metaphor for immersing yourself in the love of God. My favourite thing to do is grab a quilt and a cushion and lie on the sofa, which I used to do when my kids had their afternoon naps. I knew that whatever dishes and cooking and laundry had to be done, it was not worth it on a personal level to miss this out. And my family benefited from not having a cranky mum.

I would throw on a CD of music, not the loud bouncy sort I often favour at other times, but peaceful, calming, relaxing music. And I would picture myself in the embrace of the Father, the perfect, kind, gentle Daddy. I would receive the waves of love that came with every pulse of his heartbeat, and breathe in the refreshing of His Spirit.

In the beginning I favoured the ‘I Am’ CD from John Paul Jackson, where he reads out 365 different names and attributes of God, and often I would use music with lyrics, like Misty Edwards and her ‘Relentless’ album. These and others blessed me deeply!

Now I am exploring all kinds of lyric-less music, as it encourages me to a different place spiritually. No longer am I focused on the language centre of my brain, but it takes me to a place of being, an awareness of my heart and spirit communicating and receiving love.

Taster Days

This year, allergist
as part of a very useful brainstorming session, our group came up with the idea of  a taster day (or afternoon as it turned out). We had looked at how seekers very often go to workshops and days like this, and thought it would be a useful way to help them see if they wanted to go on the course. They could catch a flavour of what we were about, and actually engage in responding to Jesus for themselves, whether through art, journalling, soaking or chatting in the coffee zone.

We had a short talk on what the course was about, introducing the basics about Jesus, and an activation through drawing. Then we offered two workshops on hand massage and engaing with your dreams as well as a time they could receive prophecy and prayer for healing, or be free to respond through the art, live soaking music and journalling.

The next taster is on Monday night in Kilwinning, with a similar format.

Exciting news!

Spiritual Exercises

Author: hevs

Ben and I recently started a Source housegroup with a focus of those involved in, abortion and coming through spiritual seeker events, viagra 40mg and we are using spiritual exercises to help us grow in understanding the spiritual life. Journalling is one of those types of exercise, ailment and there are some simple questions we can ask Jesus and I wanted to share them:

What should I do less of?

What should I do more of?

Is there something new I should try?

If you haven’t tried journalling, I highly recommend it, and the course by Mark Virkler ‘Four Keys to Hearing God’s Voice’ is available through http://www.cwgministries.org/index.htm.

I combine doodling and drawing with my writing, and play around with genres, adding poetry and collage and any kind of creativity that will release more understanding to me. As I delve deeper into the Visual and Kinesthetic styles of learning, these methods become a meditation on the truth and revelation of God’s Bible and also the intimacy I have with him.

Recording your journey is also an act of faith and an act of testimony – it helps us overcome, triumph, live in victory. It’s fun! This is also why it is an important part of the LSJ course.

I will add pictures in the future but at the moment I can’t work out how to get photos onto this computer – its new!

For the other spiritual exercises, see posts further on.

Happy Thursday xx

Hope to see you there!

If you are interested in a training event in your church or area, I am happy to travel.

Another training event will be run in June.

A while back I posted the ‘Gifts’ spiritual exercise, there and here are two more I have written. As you do these, men’s health turn off your editor until the end and simply write each step as an act of faith, the first positive things that come into your head are likely the answer to this declarative prayer. Say it out loud  and place your hand on your head or your heart:

I bless all my senses to receive revelation from the Spirit of Jesus. No other voice is permitted to speak. I bless my sanctified imagination to receive words, pictures, sounds, smells, tastes, fragments, thoughts and ideas. I open the eyes and ears of my heart, mind and will to receive the wonderful variety of communication from the Spirit of Jesus.

Spiritual Exercise – Seed

The Bible has many uses of the seed metaphor, including the parables of Matthew 13.

1. Ask the Spirit of Jesus to show you a seed he is giving to you – there may be more than one. Describe how it looks, feels and even smells. You may like to put out your hand as a sign you are receiving it.

2. What colouration does the seed have? What is the size, shape and condition?

3. Ask where the seed is to be planted, and visualise it happening in the spirit.

4. Ask if there is a scripture verse that is attached to this seed.

5. Ask what plant will grow from this seed, including any flowers.

6. Ask what fruit or result will come from this.

7. Ask how you can fully co-operate with heaven in growing this seed (are there any weeds or birds or soil issues to deal with?).

This is part of the course, ‘Listening to the Spirit of Jesus’ that I have developed, and am hoping to get it published this year! If you want to use these exercises, please email me at heather@sourcelife.net.

The second exercise is a more advanced one. I have chosen to release it in order that we may all co-operate more fully with the Father in bringing heaven to earth, that we may partner with ‘Your will be done, Your Kingdom come’. As with all journalling, it is wise to submit it to a mature mentor  who can grow you in your gifting.

Journey to Heaven

Rev 4 v 1-2 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.

The first three chapters of Ezekiel are also worth studying before this exercise.

Step 1: Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you will travel to heaven, eg by vehicle, heavenly being, flying… Write down what you see, colours, textures and features … and go!

Step 2: Describe your journey – what do you see, hear, feel, sense as you travel? Record your impressions.

Step 3: Ask the Holy Spirit to take you to a particular room or space in heaven, eg throne room. Describe what you see, including colours, creatures, furniture etc.

Step 4:  Ask the Holy Spirit to let you hear the sounds and smells of heaven. Record what you hear, including any words.

Step 5: Approach the Lord. Describe what you see.

Step 6: Ask the Lord if he has a message or gift for you and record it.

Step 7: Ask how you can co-operate with what heaven is doing on earth today. Ask for the love, power and wisdom to work with Him in all things today.

So you brought a friend to Light and Life, pharm or ministered at the psychic fair, cheap or gave a word to your colleague… you know that what is out there already won’t necessarily fit with their particular tribe or culture, decease
but want them to have a place where they can build relationship, ask questions, be free from jargon, encounter Jesus experientially and get more prophecy, healing and truth.

These are the questions that many have been asking, given the recent surge in evangelistic events to the spiritual seekers in Scotland. Since Light and Life started, over 400 people have come to faith and GPC have also seen significant numbers.

What is next for them when inviting them to church doesn’t fit with where they are? Here is an option currently in its second pilot in Glasgow:

Source is running a seven week course called ‘Listening to the Spirit of Jesus’. This course covers the following topics:

  • A variety of methods for connecting to the Spirit of Jesus including types of meditation and spiritual exercises
  • How to receive wisdom, guidance, healing and miracles from the Spirit of Jesus
  • Growing love, joy and peace in your world
  • Understanding of the spiritual realm and how to access it
  • Spiritual tools for vision and dream interpretation

Website: http://sourcelife.net

Course Outline

Week 1 – Intro to Jesus – getting rid of misconceptions

Week 2 – Jesus as Creator – we have a soul and a spirit, angelic/demonic

Week 3 – Jesus, Physical Healing and Miracles – healing activation

Week 4 – Jesus and Inner Healing – breaking lies, healing wounds

Week 5 – Jesus as Rescuer – what salvation means

Week 6 – Jesus as Guide – what Jesus as Lord means

Week 7 – Jesus and Your Future Journey – how to keep your faith and grow

Meeting Outline

7.30 to 7.50 Welcome slot – drinks, food, icebreaker.

7.50 to 8.10 Teaching slot – short, creative and non-religious.

8.10 to 8.30 Practical activation – exercises, meditation, journaling.

8.30 to 9.00 Group time – check up on their revelation, their week, answer questions, pray and prophesy over them. Ask for healing, miracles, transformation…

Run over seven week blocks, the course can be run by any team of individuals in Scotland or beyond, and could lead to a housegroup exploring new patterns of church. It could also lead to Alpha – it is intended to stir up hunger for more, as they taste and see that God is good! It would work as a one-to-one discipleship tool or for a much bigger group, provided you had enough leaders.

‘Listening to the Spirit of Jesus’ is both a harvesting tool and a gathering in tool – both bait and net, and allows the cleansing and equipping process to begin.

The course is designed for:

  • those who have recently invited Jesus into their lives.
  • those who have not yet taken that step but who have a hunger to find out more.
  • those who are recommitting after having fallen away and have no church currently.

I feel strongly that this course is not for the harvest already gathered in, therefore the course is not suitable for:

  • those who have been Christians more than two years – it is ‘baby basic’.
  • those under other pastoral authority – people from other churches who want to connect to Jesus more should be directed to other resources.

Summer 2010:  a vision.

It was like watching a movie, tooth like Lord of the Rings, thumb and the first bit was slowed down. Out of the darkness came a rider in silver armour on a white horse coming in flying leaps toward me, website like this I was overwhelmed by a sense of power that went in a wave right through my core, and realised it was Jesus, he was dressed in silver armour and had a huge sword with a giant ruby set in the pommel. His helmet was above his glowing white hair and it had the words victor and triumphant inscribed on it, with intricate designs etched all over the metal. I saw his sword also had many words of truth etched on it, and he took his sword to a field of ripe wheat and began to harvest it all, bending from the horse as it galloped down the side of the hill. I asked if there was more to see and I looked up at the moon which began to wax from a quarter full to completely full.

In context, this came at the end of a meeting I had to discuss church planting among the spiritual seeker community. The moon is a symbol of the church as a body that reflects the light of the Son, and the desire of my heart is to partner with heaven to see His bride come to shining fullness…

I had asked for a name for this ministry, and felt it on the tip of my tongue and spirit as I tried to search it out, for a while I was going ‘oh… o… I know it has an ‘o’ in it!’ But Jesus is the source of life and everything was created by and through Him, He is the centre (John 1). And so it fitted perfectly.

So I will be using this blog to post my progress in this journey.

What is Source?

The aims of Source as a missional discipleship ministry are:

  • to fill an existing gap in what is currently available for spiritual seekers to connect to the Trinity
  • to help remove barriers between seekers and this connection though experiential encounters and practical teaching
  • to provide another set of options for Christians trying to follow up those who come to faith or come near to faith
  • to redeem the spiritual and creative forms of worship that are less readily available today
  • to bring in the spiritual seeker Bride
  • to use language that is easily accessible and explain jargon clearly
  • to release a fresh expression of church in church planting

‘Listening to the Spirit of Jesus’ is a course produced by the Source ministry which is planned to help achieve these aims.

More on the LSJ course in future posts!

Update from Heather

Hey there! I didn’t mean to be so quiet, visit this but to make up for that I’m giving a gift  – a prophetic exercise on James 1 v 17. I have been loving the family time, doing lots of soaking, and learning how God speaks through and uses the imagination to ‘download heaven’. This picture was a Christmas card from Studio18 in Atlanta GA and I love it!

James 1 v 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…

Step 1. Ask the Lord to show you a present He is giving you. Describe the wrapping and look for colours, ribbon, decoration or patterns.

Step 2. Ask the Lord if there is a message on the gift tag for you.

Step 3. Unwrap the present. Describe what is inside.

Step 4. Again, note the colours and any other details.

Step 5. Ask the Lord how this gift is to be used in your life.

Step 6. Ask the Lord if there is a scripture that will help you use this gift.

Step 7. Ask if there is someone you can bless with this gift and the timing for this. Ask for his love and wisdom and boldness in using this gift.
